Kid-Friendly Christmas Cake-Topper

Just in time for Christmas Eve… If your little ones want to help you prepare something special in the kitchen this holiday season, here’s a fun and EASY way for them to do just that. Click on the link for the details over at Busy Mom’s Helper. And may you have a Wonderful Christmas…

Make Your Own Indian Corn – from Popcorn!

I had grand plans, y’all.  I’m kinda famous for ’em.  I see potential everywhere. Problem is, things don’t always turn out quite the way I envision them. Like the plans I had for this DIY Indian corn.  I had the coolest idea.  I knew just what I was going to do with it, and it was going to be the most adorable thing. Except that it didn’t work so well.  Very frustrating.  But then I remembered that the light bulb took a few tries to get right, too, right?  So I…

Upside-Down Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Since Mother’s Day is fast approaching, I wanted to share a recipe for all you mamas…because let’s face it, even though it’s your day, you might just be the one in the kitchen!  (And you probably wouldn’t have it any other way.)  This Upside-Down Chocolate Chip Cheesecake is something you can make the day before; just pull it out of the fridge when it’s time for dessert. It came about as a sort of happy accident.  I threw it together one evening, using what I had on…

20 Outstanding Ways to Reuse a Picture Frame

I love browsing sites like Hometalk for inspiration.  I can find all kinds of ideas there.  So when I was asked to round up some of those ideas for you, I jumped at the chance.  I had so much fun curating this board, 20 Outstanding Ways to Reuse a Picture Frame, for Hometalk! If you’re like me, you have a stash of old picture frames, and while you don’t want to get rid of them (you know-just in case) you may be wondering what to do with them.  This board features ideas for every season…

Burlap and Bling

A while back I bought some small burlap canvases on clearance at Michael’s.  The pack of four was about $5.     Perfect price and perfect for the letters L-O-V-E! I just sketched out the letters with a pencil, using a ruler for straight edges.   Glitter is big right now, and I thought it would be fun to use it for this little project.  So, I outlined the letters in glue.   Then, I added a little glue inside the lines, and spread it with a paintbrush.   Next, I sprinkled on glitter…

Rustic Rocker

After-Christmas presents are the best, aren’t they?  Totally unexpected and straight from the heart. That’s how I got this rustic rocking chair.  My husband saw it while out and about, the day after Christmas.  He knew I wanted one, and he picked up this super sturdy cedar rocker (for $20!!) for me to stain, paint, or seal.  (He’s sweet like that.)  I love the look of it, so, besides sanding a few rough spots and adding a weatherproof seal, I am going to leave it just as it is.  I can hardly wait…

The Santa Question

I remember where I was when I was first confronted with the truth.  I’ll bet you do, too. A cousin of mine (who was much older and wiser, six months older than I was) informed me as we stood in my grandparents’ house after Sunday dinner that, of course she “didn’t believe in Santa Claus anymore…there’s no way he could get to all those houses in one night.” I stood there, stunned.  She had a point there. It’s a funny story now, but at the time, I…

Gratitude Garland

Even though Thanksgiving has come and gone, and the bursts of autumn color are winding down, I wanted to share one last little bit of the season, because **it’s my favorite.** 🙂 And also because I did something new with the kids this year that I love.  I really wanted to foster an attitude of gratitude with them, so I made them think a little bit. Y’all.  This is one of my favorite things I’ve ever done.  It’s not the perfectly printed or stenciled banner that I may or may not have had…

Gooey Apple Crumble…EZ and Gluten Free!

Happy Independence Day, America! Today is a special day for Americans, and I wanted to share something very American…and what’s more American than Apple Pie, right? This “apple pie” isn’t really pie at all, but it has all the flavor of apple pie without all the fuss.  And without all the wheat.  It’s not in a crust, so it’s gluten-free.  But the best part is, you can make it, start to finish, in 15 minutes! All you need is 1 skillet, 5 ingredients, and 15 minutes. Ingredients…

Easter

Happy Resurrection Day! “Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?  He is not here, but is risen!  Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”  Luke 24:5-7 “Then he said to them, ‘Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer…
