Easy No-Bake Gluten-Free Granola

Do you ever buy those yogurts that come with their own little packets of crunchies to add on top?  We love those things, but they are pretty expensive, considering how quickly our family can go through them, so now we make our own! I did some experimenting, and came up with this EASY No-Bake Gluten-Free Granola that we love and make over and over again.  It’s tasty, easy, and sooo much cheaper than store-bought granola. It’s so versatile, too.  Not only do we sprinkle it on yogurt, but we use it just like…

20 Outstanding Ways to Reuse a Picture Frame

I love browsing sites like Hometalk for inspiration.  I can find all kinds of ideas there.  So when I was asked to round up some of those ideas for you, I jumped at the chance.  I had so much fun curating this board, 20 Outstanding Ways to Reuse a Picture Frame, for Hometalk! If you’re like me, you have a stash of old picture frames, and while you don’t want to get rid of them (you know-just in case) you may be wondering what to do with them.  This board features ideas for every season…

Make a Chalkboard for Under $1 in Under 1 Minute – No Paint!

If you ask me, the BEST projects are the ones that take only a LITTLE time and money, but give you a result that you LOVE.  That makes this pretty much the best project ever.  🙂  How would you like to make a chalkboard for under $1 in under 1 minute, with no paint involved? I love it when cheap, easy, and beautiful all come together in a project, don’t you?  Years ago, a friend gave me this gorgeously framed picture, because she was moving. And while I love old pictures, I just never really fell in love with…

Restoration Hardware-Inspired Framed Antique Art for $3.20

When you choose to be a one income family, for the sake of your family, you learn a lot about being thrifty. Fortunately for me, I can truthfully say that has always been my nature anyway.  Practical.  Thrifty.  Boring.  It’s true.  One year, when I was 12, I gave my mother rubber gardening shoes for Christmas because the price was right, and it was so very, well…practical.  I thought she could use some shoes. Then I accidentally told her what her gift was. I said I needed a box to wrap the shoes in.  Then I…

Burlap and Bling

A while back I bought some small burlap canvases on clearance at Michael’s.  The pack of four was about $5.     Perfect price and perfect for the letters L-O-V-E! I just sketched out the letters with a pencil, using a ruler for straight edges.   Glitter is big right now, and I thought it would be fun to use it for this little project.  So, I outlined the letters in glue.   Then, I added a little glue inside the lines, and spread it with a paintbrush.   Next, I sprinkled on glitter…

Paper Bag Popcorn

Popcorn is our favorite go-to snack, whether we’re watching a movie or doing schoolwork…especially now that we’ve discovered that we can just put regular popcorn kernels in a paper bag and microwave ’em!                            Using these simple steps, it makes the perfect single serving: Add 1/4 cup popcorn, 1 tsp oil, and 1/2 tsp salt to a paper bag. Fold top over. Shake. Microwave (on its side)  for 2 minutes. I put a 1/8 scoop…

Restaurant Salsa for Under 1 Dollar in Under 1 Minute!

No, I’m not kidding. I thought about naming this post “How to Get Your Very Picky Teenage Son to Eat Vegetables,” because that’s how it came about. For a child who has had a life-long aversion to vegetables and all things good-for-you, he somehow loves restaurant salsa and store-bought salsa in the jar.  In his mind there is no connection to vegetables here. However, if I buy tomatoes and chop them up to make fresh salsa, which is amazing, nope. He won’t eat it. Go figure. So…
